The clear seas, bright harbours and hidden coves of the Ceredigion coastline give way to red kite-filled skies, busy market towns and dramatic hill walks.

LLYN CLYWEDOG RESERVOIR

 

Llyn Clywedog is a manmade reservoir formed by the construction of the Clywedog Dam between 1963-1967. There is a circular 15-mile drive around the lake and miles of footpaths along its banks. The lake is also home to the Clywedog Sailing Club where the club welcomes visitors with their own craft. Day sailing permits the use of club facilities and launching /recovery. The clubhouse is fully equipped, all you need is your food. There is also a barbecue available. It is a 5 minute drive to the club from TyCapel or a 15minute walk. The reservoir is also home to Llyn Clywedog Trout fishery a popular trout fishery, operated by the Llanidloes and District Angling Association. and is a 5 minute drive from us.

 

HAFREN FOREST

 

Hafren Forest sits on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains, 4 miles from Ty Capel and 7 miles west of the market town of Llanidloes. There are plenty of waterfalls along the river’s way through the forest.There are 3 short walks through the woodland to the Severn Break its Neck waterfall, the Blaenhafren Falls and Cascade Falls. Hafren Forest is also the start (or end) point for two long distance walks – The Wye Valley Walk and The Severn Way.  There is a parking area as well as picnic tables and toilet facilities,

 

GLYNDWR'S WAY

 

Glyndŵr’s Way is an 135 mile (217 Km) long National Trail meandering through the open moorland, rolling farmland, woodland and forest of mid-Wales. Starting in Knighton and ending in Welshpool, the Trail is named after Owain Glyndŵr’, Prince of Wales and Medieval Welsh nationalist leader who organised a rebellion against the English king, Henry IV in 1400. Ty Capel is located on the Glyndwr's Way so is an ideal place to stop if you are planning on walking the whole trial or part of it.

 

SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK

 

An hours drive will take you to snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre. With wild landscapes and villages steeped in history, Snowdonia National Park is a breathtaking destination for activity holidays and days out with family and friends. It’s best known for hiking, but there’s plenty more to enjoy, from waterfalls, lakes and world-class mountain biking to a vintage steam railway that climbs the highest peak in Wales.
